Aamir Khan said he believes that this partnership between rural and urban will not only help the villagers but the city folk as well, to come closer to understanding our farmer friends, and knowing where our food, water and labour comes from. It will help to bridge the chasm between cities and villages, and go a long way towards creating a more equitable and humane relationship between the two. He urged the students to join the fight against water scarcity, and help work towards a prosperous and happy Maharashtra.

The hawkishness widens within the MPC: Angel Broking

newspatrolling.com : “It was clear from the monetary policy announcement that the Dr. Patra was the only member of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) who had actually voted for a rate hike. Now it emanates from the minutes of the MPC that were made public on 19th April that Dr. Patra is entirely in favor of a series of rate hikes from here on. According to Dr. Patra, the inflation risk is still very strong due to oil and food prices and the RBI may find inflation spilling above its 6% upper limit. All the other members of the MPC had voted for a status quo on rates.

Even the policy document had actually acknowledged that there were two principal risks for inflation in the current year. Firstly, Saudi Arabia has been talking about $100/bbl as a possible target for oil prices. That could be a big source of imported inflation for India. Secondly, the new MSP formula at 150% of the cost of production could also intensify the inflationary pressures. According to Dr. Patra, the situation called for a series of rate hikes by the RBI to quell the risk of inflation shooting beyond the 6% mark.

Interestingly, none of the other five members including Dr. Urjit Patel have countered Dr. Patra's estimates of the inflation risk. The argument in each of the other cases has been more towards holding rates to avoid the nascent economic recovery being nipped. That substantially opens up the risk of a rate hike by the RBI either if the inflation gets closer to 6% or if the Fed gets more hawkish in its outlook.”

Rhode Island House of Representatives to start its day with Hindu mantras on June 20

NewsPatrolling.com (Media partnered with Newzopedia.com niryas.com webeesocial.com ayushmaanbhavah.com : Rhode Island House of Representatives in Providence will open its June 20 session with Hindu prayers, containing verses from world’s oldest existing scripture.

Distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed will deliver the invocation from ancient Sanskrit scriptures before the House. After Sanskrit delivery, he then will read the English interpretation of the prayer. Sanskrit is considered a sacred language in Hinduism and root language of Indo-European languages.

Zed, who is the President of Universal Society of Hinduism, will recite from Rig-Veda, the oldest scripture of the world still in common use; besides lines from Upanishads and Bhagavad-Gita (Song of the Lord), both ancient Hindu scriptures. He plans to start and end the prayer with “Om”, the mystical syllable containing the universe, which in Hinduism is used to introduce and conclude religious work.

Reciting from Brahadaranyakopanishad, Rajan Zed plans to say “Asato ma sad gamaya, Tamaso ma jyotir gamaya, Mrtyor mamrtam gamaya”, which he will then interpret as “Lead us from the unreal to the real, Lead us from darkness to light, and Lead us from death to immortality.” Reading from Bhagavad-Gita, he proposes to urge Representatives to keep the welfare of others always in mind.

Zed is a global Hindu and interfaith leader. Bestowed with World Interfaith Leader Award; Zed is Senior Fellow and Religious Advisor to Foundation for Religious Diplomacy, Spiritual Advisor to National Association of Interchurch & Interfaith Families, on the Advisory Board of The Interfaith Peace Project, etc. He has been panelist for “On Faith”, a prestigious interactive conversation on religion produced by The Washington Post; and leads a weekly interfaith panel “Faith Forum” in a Gannett publication for over seven years.

Rajan Zed is also urging Senate President Dominick J. Ruggerio to allow him to read invocation at Rhode Island Senate also on June 20 as a diversity gesture. “We do open every session day with a daily prayer and each day we select a different Senator to do the prayer”, Charlotte Desautels, Executive Assistant to Ruggerio, said responding to Zed’s request.

Hinduism, oldest and third largest religion of the world, has about 1.1 billion adherents and moksh (liberation) is its ultimate goal. There are about three million Hindus in USA.

Rhode Island, nicknamed “the Ocean State”, is the smallest state in the nation but has the longest official name: “State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations”. Gina M. Raimondo is the Governor. Nicholas A. Mattiello is Speaker of the House, which is composed of 75 Representatives.

Thinnest single day range in many months

NewsPatrolling.com :  “Yesterday’s decent profit booking was followed by a gap up opening with a small margin. However, post the opening, the benchmark index almost became stationary as we saw Nifty trading within a slender range of merely 26 points throughout the day. This was probably the thinnest single day range in last many months. But, we must accept the fact that the real action (on both sides) was seen in individual names.

Despite Nifty experiencing some profit booking yesterday, we were quite convinced that the index would once again make an attempt to inch higher and for the day, 10495 would act as a key support. This is what we witnessed today and going ahead, we continue to expect Nifty making an effort to re-enter the strong resistance zone of 10580 – 10640. On the lower side, 10546 followed by 10495 would be seen as a crucial support. Only a sustainable move below this level would apply immediate brakes on recent relief rally. Till then the index may continue gyrating within a range of 10495 – 10640.
